Report on the Friday July 16 BBQ and Memorial Garden Dedication

The Friday evening BBQ and Memorial Garden Dedication provided everyone a close inspection and enjoyment of the beautiful Visitor Center in Locust Grove, Virginia. Friends, beverages, silent auction opportunities, and mouth-watering food made the evening the perfect opportunity to rest while chatting with fellow attendees.

Add to that great mix the Memorial Garden Dedication of the new cloister and the addition of many new memorial pavers; and the evening became a special time to remember, celebrate and honor all the individuals, past and present, who have played important roles in building the Germanna Foundation.

Children frolicked on the lawn, balloons delighted all, and the food was definitely "I want seconds on that" type of food. Nobody left hungry as the portions were generous and the taste superb. Germanna cousin Rodney Lillard proved to be the caterer extraordinaire for this event.

A crowd gathered at the stunningly beautiful new cloister for the dedication ceremony.

The Boy Scouts led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance after presenting and posting the flags. Marc Wheat then opened the ceremony with prayer.  Marc shared with everyone that a Bible is buried under one of the stones of the foundation of the beautiful new cloister.   Skip Poole read the names of those who had purchased memorial stones and the names of those etched on the stones.  Skip also helped those who were present whose name was called to locate their special new memorial stone.

Boy Scouts assisted in the ceremony
