The Events Committee has been working for months to plan an exciting and thought-provoking schedule of events spanning locations in five Virginia counties.

The welcoming Friday night barbeque will be at Salubria, where much work has taken place this winter to uncover the colonial terraced gardens. On Saturday, while the kids are at Camp Salubria, you’ll be at the conference, which offers sessions on the people of Germanna, genealogy skills, and more —something for everyone!

To end the weekend on Sunday, we are fortunate to have special permission from the University of Mary Washington for a worship service adn tours of the Fort Germanna/ Enchanted Castle archaeological site. This is truly a special opportunity as the site is closed to the public.

As part of the Virginia General Assembly’s observance of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, staff from the Library of Virginia in Richmond will be on hand at the Germanna Visitor Center on Friday, July 13th to digitally scan original Civil War source materials - your Civil War-related documents need not concern Virginia.  Materials may include letters, memoirs, pension materials, military passes, discharge papers, diaries, hand-drawn maps, and selected memorabilia and other Civil War era manuscripts.  Items must be owned by the individual presenting the materials for digitization.  You should be proud that your Germanna Visitor Center has been selected as a site for this important legacy project of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Please join us for what will be a memorable and eventful weekend that will advance scholarship in all things Germanna. We look forward to seeing you in July.
