Show your support for Culpeper local businesses by visiting booths and tents of fellow members of the Culpeper Chamber of Commerce at CulpeperFest, being held at the Germanna Community College's Daniel Technology Center in Culpeper.
The Germanna Foundation will have a booth to promote the Germanna Conference and Reunion coming up July 16-18, 2010. A schedule and registration information are posted at http://www.germanna.org/conference2010.
CulpeperFest is an annual local showcase of Culpeper community businesses, industries and services.
The event runs today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Germanna Community College’s Daniel Technology Center, located off McDevitt Drive. Representatives from about 100 businesses are expected to be on hand.
Sponsored by the Culpeper County Chamber of Commerce each year since 1987, the event features all the usual attractions for all ages, including an all-you-can eat catfish, lamb, pork, chicken and Italian sausage dinner with all the fixings. Deejays Sound Decision and Night Light entertainment will provide the music, and the kids can enjoy a petting zoo.
In addition to freebies from businesses and community groups, Bruster’s will be offering free ice cream. The store is also sponsoring an ice cream-eating contest. The world record from 2006 is 13.5 ounces in 30 seconds.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $5 for children — they must be purchased in advance and will not be sold at the gate. Tickets are available at the following locations: CFC Farm & Home Center, Green Nest, Petersen Jewelers, Powell Wellness Center, The Frenchman’s Corner, the Daniel Tech Center, Reflections LLC, Stellar One (Main Street Culpeper or in Locust Grove), SunTrust in the Meadowbrook Shopping Center, Virginia Community Bank, Wachovia in downtown Culpeper or the Culpeper County Chamber office in the Depot.

The Germanna Foundation was founded in 1956 to make known the history of the first German settlements under the patronage of Lt. Gov. Alexander Spotswood. The Germanna Foundation donated 100 acres of land in 1969 to the Commonwealth of Virginia to make the dream of Germanna Community College a reality.
