Germanna leaders Emily Williams, Lydia Edwards, and Dr. Frank Turnage will inspire and encourage you about how we can work together to be good stewards of Virginia's heritage and our families' role in it.
May 1 is observed as Loyalty Day in the United States. It is a day set aside for the reaffirmation of loyalty to the United States and for the recognition of the heritage of American freedom. By an Act of Congress, Loyalty Day was made an official holiday on July 18, 1958 (Public Law 85-529).
The Loyalty Day meeting will take place on Saturday, May 1, at 10:00 a.m. at the historic Kemper House, courtesy of the Madison County Historical Society. This was the home of James Lawson Kemper: Germanna descendant; Confederate general wounded in Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg; and Virginia Governor.
