Apollo 11 Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, a Germanna/Germantown descendant, would be proud to have you explore the heavens from his ancestral home!

In about 1719, the ancestors of Buzz Aldrin and other members of the first Germanna colony removed from Germanna to a tract called Germantown (in what later became Fauquier County).

Modern-day Crockett Park (10066 Rogues Road, Midland, VA), situated in the center of Germantown and surrounding Germantown Lake, will be the site of an astronomy viewing hosted by the Northern Virginia Astronomy Club on Saturday, April 10 from 7-11 PM. All ages welcome! Ages 17 and under must have adult chaperone.

Come out and enjoy a trip to the stars under lovely summer skies. View the constellations, stars and planets from the very ground where Buzz Aldrin's ancestors observed them!

No formal program will be presented, however feel free to bring your own telescope, observe through one provided, or just
sit back and enjoy the night sky. Registration is not required. This is a free event to Fauquier County residents. Admission for non-county residents is $6 per vehicle, payable at the gate. For more information call (540) 788-4867.

Office hours are 1 to 5 P.M. Tuesday through Saturday. Out of town visitors are urged to call to confirm or to make special arrangements for groups.
