Who is Cheryl Hanback Shepherd?
Cheryl Hanback Shepherd is an architectural historian living in Warrenton, Virginia about twenty minutes from the site of the original Germantown settlement. Her Germanna ancestor was Jacob Heimbach who came to the Little Fork area in Culpeper County, Virginia from Seelbach, Nassau-Siegen, Germany before 1756. She further descended from his son Jacob. At least since the fourth generation with Silas Bruce Hanback, her great-great-grandfather, and through the seventh generation with her uncles and father Bruce, this branch of the Hanbacks were known as the finest master builders in Fauquier and Loudoun counties.
