The Orange County Historical Society invites you to join members of the public at Graham Cemetery to dedicate a grave marker honoring musician "Banjo" Sam Sweeny on Monday, June 7, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. Sam, along with his brothers, was quite famous 150 years ago as the Sweeny family popularized the five-string banjo and made it into the major instrument it is today. Sam died in Orange in 1864, while serving as J.E.B. Stuart's favorite banjo player.
